Lmao now thats a nice twist :)

Hahaha, its like ghetto NES haha. Not bad though, neat idea/concept. 5/5 10/10 as theres nothing wrong with it, just a short track - productions good.

Care to check out my new submission and review/vote?

Well hey

Yeah dude, turned out good! I like the pads, and the melody itself. The drums are nice sounds, IMO. Good stuff man :) 5/5 10/10

Could you review my latest submission? Or vote at least

Fuinhalokz responds:

I voted mate. Thanks for the comment ;D.

Oooo

Very simple melody, nothing complex, but the drumtrack and effects are very nice. The kick has a nice presence, for one. Nice melodies, reminds me of megaman about halfway through lmao

Nice shit man

5/5 10/10

Lets seee here!

Well it starts off, to me, as sounding like a main menu an RPG haha :D Which I love. Genres are beside the point in my reviews.

This song is very chill man. Definitely very laid back, atmospheric/ambient, and the melodies are nice. Not sure why you just got a 7, not too many crits in there.

Im gonna say, that there is a Win/Lose on the variation on this song. If there was more variation, I think i would be put in less of a trance. So for that, I deduct nothing. This song is very captivating.

The mixing seems nice. Maybe a little more Highs to tighten up the kicks, and a little less 50-frequency on them/ But other than that, there is nothing I see to deduct any points.

Awesome. 10/10 5/5

DjEsyrik responds:

Yea, i thougth the same with the RPG thing.

Also, i noticed the bass frequency after publishing it, and Yea' the song is kinda repetive :P
But, thank you for reviewing :3

nice man

I think the detache strings would be better dry, without reverb, with the velocity on the hits high as they can go. Turn the string chords in the background way up.

Not much else to crit, sounds decent. nice atmosphere. 10/10 5/5

Pokemeon responds:

Thank you i see what you mean about the detache strings only problem is that orchestral vst is not letting me save my presets so every time i load a track i have to manually change every instrument to what its suppose to be... so it just becomes a pain in the ass trying to go back and change stuff. anyway thanks for the review bro im glad you like it.

Thats a pretty cool synth

Not sure what that synth is, but its pretty cool.

To keep this one simple, it needs a bassline, and some good effects (ie compression yet again)

If you intend to focus on technoish stuff, the limiter/compressor will be your main whore dude. Dont abuse it, but learn how to use it in collab with other effects and you'll be good.

8/10 5/5

KranBerries responds:

Yep, i made all of these before i even really knew what a kompressor was, but now that ive been told numerous times to play with it i think ill go ahead do that, i'll most likely try to make a new short using some of the advise i've been given so far! well, after i go buy the ballad of gay tony for gta 4 ha. and yes i will be fokusing on tekno, the only other thing i ever did was D&B like 4 months ago, id gladly let you take a stab at listening to it, so long as i kan upload it :D thanks for the review man.

Hmmm

This is actually a pretty good melody. I wont focus much on the EQ on this review, but moreso some effects (like the guy below me mentioned)

The compressor goes a long way, but personally I use a Limiter way more. I wouldnt throw it on the kicks either.

If you're using FLS, do this for a suggestion:
Go to the master mixer channel, and where it has the default limiter, click it, and right click the arrows top right, and click Drum Compression 2 (I use this sometimes).

Then adjust levels after you hear what this affect does.

On the synth, it might be cool to add a sidechain.
FLS > Mixer > Gross beat > Sidechain (bottom left).

The compressor and the sidechain work well together.

Some quick ideas. Theres tons of stuff you can do here.

For one further suggestion, you should definitely consider a bassline. The typical "in-between-kick" bassline would work, as seen in some of my songs, like on my Breakdown in "Emineye".

Cool stuff though. You're a good writer, now to put that to work in collaboration with some learning on production and mixing. Stay at it.

Out of the 3 ive heard of yurs, this has the most potential for SURE.
And for that, 10/10 5/5. Like seriously, its not an amazing track (this is no secret) but I cant help but give a high score because I can personally hear a LOT of potential in this sequence.

KranBerries responds:

i appresiate the review man, and i think imma start a word file kalled, smaks notes! lol and the bassline thing, im kindof konfused as to what that really is so when i figure it out and view a few tut's i should be able to fix them up more :D

Hmm, Ill try

But I cant guarantee if you'll understand all this:

First things first:
THE KICK DRUM:
I would duplicate the kick drum you have.
On the FIRST clone of the kick, add an EQ and eliminate ALL the freqencies above about 70-80hz. Basically, its just the deep bass.

Then when this is done, keep the kicks doing the same exact rhythm you have going (including the pitch change on the kick)

Now on the SECOND clone, add and EQ and elimate all the frequencies below 80hz or so. And possibly even more than that. I would probably delete all below 120hz (because of that pitch change on the original, probably goes up to about this range). Bassically, all you have on THIS clone is a tight kick and high frequencies.

Now that you have this, add it back into the kick pattern EXCEPT NOW, where there was a pitch change on the kick originally, on this clone, keep it the same not.

In effect, what you have is a kick that changes bass but not the tone of the actual kicks.

---------------------

Now the claps:
Thats probably a defaut its pretty tight and clean, not bad. But, I would clone this clap, and have the second clone have a stereo effect on, and maybe some reverb.

The hats are key to a beat in trance, not just the kick and clap. You have a good beat going, not pull those hats way up. Nice and loud so that its not under the beat, but rather part of it. I dont particularly like the hat SOUND but, thats just me.

Since thats just the beat, thats how I would EQ and Mix it. I didnt really speak of any effects and such really though. Might be worthwhile messing around with some variation patterns with some effects like stutter going.

But these are just some suggections. nothing major. It is indeed just a beat, but not everything here has to be a full song as far as Im concerned but, its just prefered that way.

based on what you got, 8/10 5/5

KranBerries responds:

Ha i would but atm, im too poor to get the full version fls...so what i kan work with is limited, also ill look into figuring out what you mean by freq's and this was made in like...5 mins? lol

I would give you a 10

if I took into consideration you're epic new language due to your "c" key being broken. Epic.

But as for the song, obviously lots of default FLS stuff. But, thats what they're there for. *I* dont care for them, but you see thats the difference between me and BlackHoles if you get the drift Hah.

But yeah, variation is needed for sure, and mixing attention is needed. But TRUST me Ive heard WAY worse if this is seriously your first song. If it trult is the first song Im impressed.

8.5/10 (9.10) for variation and mixing attention. Cool though.

5/5 = impressed on your starting point.

KranBerries responds:

Thanks! well its not my FIRST song it was my sekond my first one was just a kik a hihat and a klap...lol

Rick Rolled NG Style :P

Well heres what I'll do because to be honest you shouldnt have submitted this yet. Im only gonna review the parts up til when the music stops.

This is, as you said, pretty slow for trance. But, all is taken into consideration that its a remix. However Its quite possibly to turn the speed up without messing with the pitch, just use audacity or something.

But yeah, based on what you have, it sounds pretty good. Things it needs:

Production/Mixing on the vocals to make it seem more trance (vocoder, autotune, etc) (if you have these). SOMETHING to set the vocals INTO the song, not ontop of it.

But yeah the bassline is cool, and the drums are your typical electronica.

Based on the music parts with vocals 7.5/10 (rounded to 8/10)
4/5

Mind if you review my new song N'Thisisex man? Chicago House.

bourngoofy88 responds:

Wow thanks for giving me a straight forward review rather than flaming or bashing me haha.

yeah as i put in the description this is my first song with vocals that im messing with so the whole vocoder stuff is new/ weird to me haha, but im adjusting and trying new things.

and ill try speeding it up with audacity! thanks for that tip.

I produce hiphop, house, dubstep, orchestral, and more.
